A10-7890K vs Xeon E3-1220 v3 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E3-1220 v3 is faster than the A10-7890K. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the A10-7890K in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E3-1220 v3 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the A10-7890K that has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the A10-7890K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E3-1220 v3. Also, the A10-7890K has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Xeon E3-1220 v3 outputs less heat than A10-7890K thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the A10-7890K has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
