Xeon X5680 vs Ryzen 3 4100 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon X5680 beats the Ryzen 3 4100 in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 3 4100 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon X5680 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Ryzen 3 4100 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 3 4100. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 3 4100 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon X5680. Also, the Ryzen 3 4100 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 3 4100 outputs less heat than Xeon X5680 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen 3 4100 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon X5680. The Ryzen 3 4100 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon X5680 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
