Xeon X5680 vs Core i7-1260P benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-1260P performs better than the Xeon X5680. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon X5680 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-1260P has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Xeon X5680 has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon X5680. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon X5680 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-1260P. Despite this, the Core i7-1260P has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-1260P outputs less heat than Xeon X5680 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i7-1260P has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon X5680. The Core i7-1260P also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon X5680 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
