Xeon X5670 vs Core i3-1220P benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Core i3-1220P beats the Xeon X5670 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon X5670 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i3-1220P has significantly more cores than the Xeon X5670. Indeed, the Core i3-1220P has 10 cores compared to 6 cores found in the Xeon X5670. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon X5670 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i3-1220P. Despite this, the Core i3-1220P has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-1220P outputs less heat than Xeon X5670 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i3-1220P has significantly more L2 cache than the Xeon X5670. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon X5670 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
