Xeon X5650 vs FX-8370E specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the FX-8370E beats the Xeon X5650 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon X5650 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon X5650 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the FX-8370E has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the FX-8370E. Our comparison shows that the FX-8370E has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon X5650. Also, the FX-8370E has a slightly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the FX-8370E has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon X5650. Despite this, the Xeon X5650 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the FX-8370E.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon X5650 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
