Xeon X5647 vs Core i3-1215U comparison

In our benchmarks, the Core i3-1215U beats the Xeon X5647 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon X5647 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i3-1215U has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Xeon X5647 that has 4 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Xeon X5647 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i3-1215U. Despite this, the Core i3-1215U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-1215U outputs less heat than Xeon X5647 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i3-1215U has significantly more L2 cache than the Xeon X5647. Despite this, the Xeon X5647 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i3-1215U.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon X5647 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
