Xeon X5570 vs Xeon E5-620 specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E5-620 is faster than the Xeon X5570. Despite this, the Xeon X5570 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores but the Xeon E5-620 has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon X5570 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-620. Also, the Xeon X5570 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Xeon E5-620 outputs less heat than Xeon X5570 thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon X5570 has significantly more L2 cache than the Xeon E5-620. The Xeon X5570 also has significantly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Xeon X5570 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
