Xeon X5470 vs Athlon Gold 7220U specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Athlon Gold 7220U is faster than the Xeon X5470. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon X5470 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon X5470 has significantly more cores than the Athlon Gold 7220U. Indeed, the Xeon X5470 has 4 cores compared to 2 cores found in the Athlon Gold 7220U. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon X5470 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Athlon Gold 7220U. The Athlon Gold 7220U outputs less heat than Xeon X5470 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon X5470 has significantly more L2 cache than the Athlon Gold 7220U
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Xeon X5470 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
