Xeon X5450 vs Athlon X4 860K comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Athlon X4 860K performs better than the Xeon X5450. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon X5450 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon X5450 has significantly more cores with 4 cores compared to the Athlon X4 860K that has 2 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Athlon X4 860K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon X5450. The Athlon X4 860K outputs less heat than Xeon X5450 thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Xeon X5450 has more L2 cache than the Athlon X4 860K
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Xeon X5450 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
