Xeon W3680 vs Xeon E3-1505M v6 comparison
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E3-1505M v6 performs better than the Xeon W3680. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon W3680 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon W3680 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Xeon E3-1505M v6 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon E3-1505M v6. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon W3680 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E3-1505M v6. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1505M v6 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Xeon E3-1505M v6 outputs less heat than Xeon W3680 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Xeon W3680 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon E3-1505M v6
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Xeon W3680 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
