Xeon W3680 vs Core i7-1260U specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-1260U performs better than the Xeon W3680. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon W3680 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-1260U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Xeon W3680 that has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Xeon W3680 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1260U. Despite this, the Core i7-1260U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i7-1260U outputs less heat than Xeon W3680 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The info from our database shows that the Xeon W3680 has more L2 cache than the Core i7-1260U
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon W3680 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
