Xeon W3580 vs Xeon X5570 specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon X5570 performs better than the Xeon W3580. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon W3580 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores but the Xeon W3580 has more threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon W3580 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon X5570. Also, the Xeon W3580 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Xeon X5570 outputs less heat than Xeon W3580 thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, both these CPUs have the same amount of L2 cache and L3 cache.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Xeon W3580 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
