Xeon W3580 vs FX-6300 comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the FX-6300 is faster than the Xeon W3580. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon W3580 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon W3580 has slightly more cores than the FX-6300. Indeed, the Xeon W3580 has 4 cores compared to 3 cores found in the FX-6300. It also has more threads than the FX-6300. With our hardware info, we find that the FX-6300 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon W3580. In terms of cache, the FX-6300 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon W3580. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon W3580 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
