Xeon W-2223 vs Xeon X5680 comparison

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon X5680 performs better than the Xeon W-2223. Despite this, the Xeon W-2223 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Xeon X5680 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Xeon W-2223 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon W-2223. Our comparison shows that the Xeon W-2223 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon X5680. Also, the Xeon W-2223 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Xeon W-2223 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5680 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon W-2223 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
