Xeon W-2125 vs Ryzen 9 7900X specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 9 7900X is faster than the Xeon W-2125. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon W-2125 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen 9 7900X has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Xeon W-2125 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon W-2125. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 9 7900X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon W-2125. Also, the Ryzen 9 7900X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Xeon W-2125 CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 9 7900X CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon W-2125 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
