Xeon W-2123 vs Core i3-1215U specs and performance

In our benchmarks, the Core i3-1215U beats the Xeon W-2123 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon W-2123 in all gaming tests too.

In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i3-1215U has significantly more cores than the Xeon W-2123. Indeed, the Core i3-1215U has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Xeon W-2123. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon W-2123 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i3-1215U. Despite this, the Core i3-1215U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-1215U outputs less heat than Xeon W-2123 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon W-2123 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
