Xeon Silver 4114 vs Ryzen 5 7640HS benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon Silver 4114 beats the Ryzen 5 7640HS in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 7640HS has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon Silver 4114 has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 7640HS has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 7640HS. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 7640HS has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon Silver 4114. Also, the Ryzen 5 7640HS has a significantly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 7640HS outputs less heat than Xeon Silver 4114 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon Silver 4114 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
