Xeon E5-649 vs Phenom II X6 1045T specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-649 performs better than the Phenom II X6 1045T. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Phenom II X6 1045T in all gaming tests too.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Phenom II X6 1045T has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-649. In terms of cache, the Phenom II X6 1045T has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon E5-649. Despite this, the Xeon E5-649 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Phenom II X6 1045T.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Xeon E5-649 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
