Xeon E5-620 vs Core i3-N300 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Core i3-N300 beats the Xeon E5-620 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-620 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i3-N300 has significantly more cores than the Xeon E5-620. Indeed, the Core i3-N300 has 8 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Xeon E5-620. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-620 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i3-N300. Despite this, the Core i3-N300 has a much higher turbo speed. The Core i3-N300 outputs less heat than Xeon E5-620 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Core i3-N300 has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon E5-620. The Core i3-N300 also has significantly more L3 cache.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Xeon E5-620 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
