Xeon E5-520 vs Xeon X5482 benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E5-520 is faster than the Xeon X5482. Despite this, the Xeon X5482 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. Our comparison shows that the Xeon X5482 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-520. A Xeon E5-520 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5482 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Xeon X5482 has significantly more L2 cache than the Xeon E5-520

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Xeon E5-520 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
