Xeon E5-2683 v3 vs Xeon W-2125 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2683 v3 beats the Xeon W-2125 in overall performance. Despite this, the Xeon W-2125 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-2683 v3 has significantly more cores than the Xeon W-2125. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2683 v3 has 14 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Xeon W-2125. It also has more threads than the Xeon W-2125. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon W-2125 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2683 v3. Also, the Xeon W-2125 has a significantly higher turbo speed. Both these chips have an identical TDP (Thermal Design Power). This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2683 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
