Xeon E5-2683 v3 vs Ryzen 7 7730U benchmarks
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen 7 7730U is faster than the Xeon E5-2683 v3. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2683 v3 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2683 v3 has significantly more cores with 14 cores whereas the Ryzen 7 7730U has 8 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 7 7730U. Both the Xeon E5-2683 v3 and Ryzen 7 7730U have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 7730U has a significantly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 7 7730U outputs less heat than Xeon E5-2683 v3 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2683 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
