Xeon E5-2680 v3 vs Ryzen Z1 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2680 v3 beats the Ryzen Z1 in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen Z1 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2680 v3 has significantly more cores with 12 cores whereas the Ryzen Z1 has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen Z1. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen Z1 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2680 v3. Also, the Ryzen Z1 has a significantly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen Z1 outputs less heat than Xeon E5-2680 v3 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2680 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
