Xeon E5-2666 v3 vs Core i7-14700K specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-14700K is faster than the Xeon E5-2666 v3. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2666 v3 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Core i7-14700K has significantly more cores with 20 cores whereas the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has 10 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon E5-2666 v3. Our comparison shows that the Core i7-14700K has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2666 v3. The info from our database shows that the Core i7-14700K has more L2 cache than the Xeon E5-2666 v3. The Core i7-14700K also has slightly more L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
