Xeon E5-2666 v3 vs Core i7-12800H specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i7-12800H is faster than the Xeon E5-2666 v3. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2666 v3 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-12800H has slightly more cores with 14 cores compared to the Xeon E5-2666 v3 that has 10 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Core i7-12800H. In terms of cache, the Core i7-12800H has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Xeon E5-2666 v3. Despite this, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i7-12800H.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2666 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
