Xeon E5-2660 v3 vs Xeon W3680 benchmarks

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2660 v3 performs better than the Xeon W3680. Despite this, the Xeon W3680 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2660 v3 has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Xeon W3680 has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon W3680. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon W3680 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2660 v3. Also, the Xeon W3680 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Xeon E5-2660 v3 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon W3680 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2660 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
