Xeon E5-2650 v4 vs EPYC 74F3 specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the EPYC 74F3 beats the Xeon E5-2650 v4 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2650 v4 in all gaming tests too.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2650 v4 has slightly more cores with 12 cores whereas the EPYC 74F3 has 9 cores. It also has more threads than the EPYC 74F3. With our hardware info, we find that the EPYC 74F3 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2650 v4. A Xeon E5-2650 v4 CPU outputs less heat than a EPYC 74F3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2650 v4 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
