Xeon E5-2640 v4 vs Xeon X5675 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon X5675 beats the Xeon E5-2640 v4 in overall performance. Despite this, the Xeon E5-2640 v4 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2640 v4 has significantly more cores with 10 cores whereas the Xeon X5675 has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon X5675. Our comparison shows that the Xeon X5675 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2640 v4. Also, the Xeon X5675 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Xeon E5-2640 v4 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5675 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2640 v4 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
