Xeon E5-2640 v3 vs Core i7-1360P benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2640 v3 beats the Core i7-1360P in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-1360P has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-1360P has significantly more cores with 12 cores compared to the Xeon E5-2640 v3 that has 8 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2640 v3 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1360P. Despite this, the Core i7-1360P has a significantly higher turbo speed.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2640 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
