Xeon E5-2620 vs Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G beats the Xeon E5-2620 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-2620 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Xeon E5-2620 has significantly more cores than the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2620 has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2620. Also, the Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G has a significantly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 PRO 2400G outputs less heat than Xeon E5-2620 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2620 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
