Xeon E5-2470 v2 vs Xeon W-2123 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-2470 v2 beats the Xeon W-2123 in overall performance. Despite this, the Xeon W-2123 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-2470 v2 has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Xeon W-2123 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon W-2123. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon W-2123 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Xeon E5-2470 v2. Also, the Xeon W-2123 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Xeon E5-2470 v2 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon W-2123 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Xeon E5-2470 v2 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
