Xeon E5-1660 vs Xeon W-2223 comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-1660 beats the Xeon W-2223 in overall performance. Despite this, the Xeon W-2223 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Xeon E5-1660 has significantly more cores with 6 cores compared to the Xeon W-2223 that has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon W-2223. Our comparison shows that the Xeon W-2223 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-1660. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. The Xeon W-2223 outputs less heat than Xeon E5-1660 thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E5-1660 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
