Xeon E5-1650 v2 vs Core i7-1355U comparison
In our benchmarks, the Xeon E5-1650 v2 beats the Core i7-1355U in overall performance. Despite this, the Core i7-1355U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core i7-1355U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Xeon E5-1650 v2 that has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon E5-1650 v2 has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Core i7-1355U. Despite this, the Core i7-1355U has a slightly higher turbo speed.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E5-1650 v2 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
