Xeon E5-1620 v4 vs Xeon W-2123 comparison

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon W-2123 is faster than the Xeon E5-1620 v4. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E5-1620 v4 in all gaming tests too.

When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Xeon W-2123 has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-1620 v4. Also, the Xeon W-2123 has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Xeon W-2123 outputs less heat than Xeon E5-1620 v4 thanks to a slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E5-1620 v4 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
