Xeon E3-1505M v6 vs Ryzen 5 7520U specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 7520U performs better than the Xeon E3-1505M v6. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E3-1505M v6 in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E3-1505M v6 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 5 7520U. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 7520U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 5 7520U outputs less heat than Xeon E3-1505M v6 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen 5 7520U has significantly more L2 cache than the Xeon E3-1505M v6. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1505M v6 has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen 5 7520U.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E3-1505M v6 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
