Xeon E3-1281 v3 vs Core i3-1215U specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i3-1215U is faster than the Xeon E3-1281 v3. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E3-1281 v3 in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Core i3-1215U has significantly more cores than the Xeon E3-1281 v3. Indeed, the Core i3-1215U has 6 cores compared to 4 cores found in the Xeon E3-1281 v3. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E3-1281 v3 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i3-1215U. Despite this, the Core i3-1215U has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Core i3-1215U outputs less heat than Xeon E3-1281 v3 thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
The more cores a CPU has, the better the overall performance will be in parallel workloads such as multitasking. Many CPUs have more threads than cores, this means that each physical core is split into multiple logical cores, making them more efficient. Indeed, the Xeon E3-1281 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
