Xeon E3-1270 V2 vs Core i3-N305 benchmarks

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core i3-N305 is faster than the Xeon E3-1270 V2. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1270 V2 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.

With info from our database, we find that the Core i3-N305 has significantly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Xeon E3-1270 V2 has 4 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E3-1270 V2 has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i3-N305. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i3-N305 has significantly more L2 cache than the Xeon E3-1270 V2. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1270 V2 has slightly more L3 cache compared to the Core i3-N305.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E3-1270 V2 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
