Xeon E3-1241 v3 vs Xeon X5680 benchmarks
In our benchmarks, the Xeon X5680 beats the Xeon E3-1241 v3 in overall performance. Despite this, the Xeon E3-1241 v3 has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon X5680 has significantly more cores with 6 cores whereas the Xeon E3-1241 v3 has 4 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon E3-1241 v3. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E3-1241 v3 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon X5680. Also, the Xeon E3-1241 v3 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Xeon E3-1241 v3 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon X5680 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Xeon E3-1241 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
