Xeon E3-1240 v3 vs Xeon W-2125 benchmarks

In our benchmarks, the Xeon W-2125 beats the Xeon E3-1240 v3 in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E3-1240 v3 in all gaming tests too.

Our spec comparison shows that they have an identical amount of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon W-2125 has a slightly higher clock speed than the Xeon E3-1240 v3. Also, the Xeon W-2125 has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Xeon E3-1240 v3 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon W-2125 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E3-1240 v3 has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
