Xeon E3-1220 vs Xeon E3-1225 specs and performance

According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Xeon E3-1225 is faster than the Xeon E3-1220. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E3-1220 in all gaming tests too.

Info from our database shows that they both have the same core count and the same number of threads. Both the Xeon E3-1220 and Xeon E3-1225 have the same clock speed. In addition, both chips have the same turbo speed. A Xeon E3-1220 CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E3-1225 CPU because of its slightly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. For instance, the Xeon E3-1220 has the same number of threads as cores. This means the the CPU does not support hyperthreading.
