Xeon E-2186M vs Core 5 120U specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Core 5 120U is faster than the Xeon E-2186M. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon E-2186M in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Core 5 120U has significantly more cores with 10 cores compared to the Xeon E-2186M that has 6 cores. But they both have the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Xeon E-2186M has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core 5 120U.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Xeon E-2186M has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
