Xeon E-2146G vs Xeon E5-2683 v3 benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Xeon E5-2683 v3 performs better than the Xeon E-2146G. Despite this, the Xeon E-2146G has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Xeon E5-2683 v3 has significantly more cores with 14 cores whereas the Xeon E-2146G has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Xeon E-2146G. Our comparison shows that the Xeon E-2146G has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon E5-2683 v3. Also, the Xeon E-2146G has a significantly higher turbo speed. A Xeon E-2146G CPU outputs less heat than a Xeon E5-2683 v3 CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Xeon E-2146G has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
