Ryzen Z1 Extreme vs Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H beats the Ryzen Z1 Extreme in overall performance. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Z1 Extreme in all gaming tests too.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. According to our data, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme and Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H have the same clock speed. Despite this, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen Z1 Extreme CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 9 PRO 6950H. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
