Ryzen Z1 Extreme vs Ryzen 7 7730U comparison
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme beats the Ryzen 7 7730U in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 7730U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. These CPUs have different clock speeds. Indeed, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen 7 7730U. Also, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 7 7730U outputs less heat than Ryzen Z1 Extreme thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen 7 7730U. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
