Ryzen Z1 Extreme vs Ryzen 7 6800U specs and performance
In our benchmarks, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme beats the Ryzen 7 6800U in overall performance. Despite this, the Ryzen 7 6800U has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
When comparing these CPUs we notice that they have the same number of cores and the same number of threads. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen 7 6800U. Also, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Ryzen 7 6800U outputs less heat than Ryzen Z1 Extreme thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has significantly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 7 6800U. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
