Ryzen Z1 Extreme vs Ryzen 5 9600X specs and performance

Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Ryzen 5 9600X performs better than the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Z1 Extreme in all gaming tests too.

With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 9600X has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 9600X. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen 5 9600X has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. Also, the Ryzen 5 9600X has a slightly higher turbo speed. A Ryzen Z1 Extreme CPU outputs less heat than a Ryzen 5 9600X CPU because of its significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption. In terms of cache, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 9600X. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 9600X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme.

Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
