Ryzen Z1 Extreme vs Ryzen 5 8500G comparison
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme is faster than the Ryzen 5 8500G. Despite this, the Ryzen 5 8500G has the advantage in our gaming benchmark.
With info from our database, we find that the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has slightly more cores with 8 cores whereas the Ryzen 5 8500G has 6 cores. It also has more threads than the Ryzen 5 8500G. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen 5 8500G has a slightly higher clock speed compared to the Ryzen Z1 Extreme. In terms of cache, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has slightly more L2 cache when compared to the Ryzen 5 8500G. However, both these chips have the same amount of L3 cache.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Z1 Extreme has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
