Ryzen Threadripper 3970X vs Core Ultra 7 265K specs and performance
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core Ultra 7 265K performs better than the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X has significantly more cores than the Core Ultra 7 265K. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X has 32 cores compared to 20 cores found in the Core Ultra 7 265K. It also has more threads than the Core Ultra 7 265K. With our hardware info, we find that the Core Ultra 7 265K has a slightly higher clock speed than the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core Ultra 7 265K has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X. Despite this, the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core Ultra 7 265K.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
