Ryzen Threadripper 3970X vs Core i7-14700F benchmarks
Our benchmark analysis concludes that the Core i7-14700F performs better than the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X in all gaming tests too.
When comparing core counts for these CPUs, we notice that the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X has significantly more cores with 32 cores compared to the Core i7-14700F that has 20 cores. It also has more threads than the Core i7-14700F. With our hardware info, we find that the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X has a significantly higher clock speed than the Core i7-14700F. The cache sizes of these CPUs are different. Indeed, the Core i7-14700F has significantly more L2 cache than the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X. Despite this, the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X has significantly more L3 cache compared to the Core i7-14700F.
Modern CPUs generally have more logical cores than physical cores, this means that each core is split into multiple virtual cores, improving efficiency for parallel workloads. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 3970X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
