Ryzen Threadripper 3960X vs Xeon Silver 4210R specs and performance
According to the hardwareDB Benchmark tool, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X is faster than the Xeon Silver 4210R. Furthermore, our gaming benchmark shows that it also outperforms the Xeon Silver 4210R in all gaming tests too.
In terms of the number of cores of each of these CPUs, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has significantly more cores than the Xeon Silver 4210R. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has 24 cores compared to 10 cores found in the Xeon Silver 4210R. It also has more threads than the Xeon Silver 4210R. Our comparison shows that the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has a significantly higher clock speed compared to the Xeon Silver 4210R. Also, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has a slightly higher turbo speed. The Xeon Silver 4210R outputs less heat than Ryzen Threadripper 3960X thanks to a significantly lower TDP. This measures the amount of heat they output and can be used to estimate power consumption.
Most CPUs have more threads than cores. This technology, colloquially called hyperthreading, improves performance by splitting a core into multiple virtual ones. This provides more efficient utilisation of a core. Indeed, the Ryzen Threadripper 3960X has more threads than cores. Each physical core is split into multiple threads.
